The BIG DIG, Virginia style...

Well, little did I know that in Virginia any structure (like the storage building I wanted) over 256 square feet is considered to be just like a mobile home in it's foundation requirements. Do I back up and get a smaller building or just forge on ahead ??

You can't see the two foot depth of the holes in the above picture or the four inches of poured concrete or the inspector that needs to come tommorrow to look at the holes or the piers that will go on top of the poured concrete in the bottom of the holes; but you WOULD be correct in saying that I forged/dug/excavated ahead.

Stay tuned for the 12foot by 24 foot building, the fencing and pictures of the 64 Leyland Cyprus trees that are already in the ground here in Verona Va at The River View Manse.

Wrapped For the Winter

After a year and a half, Ernesto and a tide that ran 6 feet over normal last Saturday; I REALLY felt it was time to go and inspect Change Of Heart down in Hayes VA. Praise be she was high and dry!

The old tarps were completely wind torn and shredded, and I mean piles of plastic tarp that looked just like you had run them through one of those paper shredders. But inside, all snug and safe were sails, outboard motor, supplies, radio, teak and mahogany........ you can tell I really love this boat eh?

Beautiful day in the 80's, smell of the salt, met with my sailing mentor SailorBob Larkin and had supper and rode west on I64 back to Verona. What is next for the Change Of Heart ? Stay tuned ( ie I'll let you know when I know!). Peace
